Without a word goodbye, Nobara leaves to go on special training with the most elite men’s volleyball team at Sokai University. But once there, she is coldly rebuffed. Determined, she must win her place there or fail in all she’s hoped for.

This is a particularly dramatic volume of Crimson Hero that focuses on Nobara almost exclusively. An unusual acquaintance leads to some even more unusual volleyball training when Nobara hooks up with Ryo and his beach volleyball team. It seems he was a rising star and now is using this as a platform for his own goals. As she trains, Nobara hits a wall. It seems the very thing from her childhood that drives her, also limits her. Can she overcome herself in order to improve? She needs to improve or she won’t be able to make it to the nationals like she’s dreamed of, worked for, and promised.

The training tests her emotional state even more than her physical as she is pushed to face her inner doubts. Along the way, she also gets to know her new teammates a little better. In particular, the short and bitter Madoka. She learns a little bit about his tragic family life. It may be that she isn’t the only one who needs healing and it could be that volleyball may prove to be the tool to do it. Unfortunately a very large obstacle is standing in their way – Sokai. The Sokai team has challenged Ryo and his team to a match. The stakes are high. If Ryo looses, he must quit school and give up his dreams of reaching higher volleyball heights. Sudden death as an athlete is what’s at stake. Will dreams be dashed?

Speaking of dreams, Yushin appears to be longing for Nobara and she misses him. But when Ryo turns out to be the star athlete that inspired her when she was younger, will Yushin have a rival for her heart? Yushin turns up at the game. Will it unsettle Nobara or can she keep it together to help her teammates and prove to herself that she can do it, that she can win!

IN SUMMARY:
New training, a new team, and a possible rival for Nobara’s heart appear this volume of the stellar sports manga.
