After Abel Nightroad has discovered his brother Cain is still alive, his inner turmoil troubles him, and along with sister Seth who had hoped he would not find out, organizes a team of AX members to help him retrieve the Pope, while he goes on a search of his brother to end his evil life once and for all.

Vanessa and Virgil of the Methuselah have written a ransom letter to the kingdom of Albion, and declare their independence from their government. They also make a few conditions. One is: wanting every Methuselah who is living in the ghetto to be released immediately, and the government is to give them assistance to get to the new human empire, and unless these conditions are met, blood will be spilled. They believe they have had enough of being slaves and want to live as free people.

Their need to find the Pope before the AX and Vatican mercenaries get there first as it is vital if they are to gain anything as a bargaining chip with the government.  Virgil mourns the death of the former queen, Brigitte II but knows she had only a limited time before anyone assassinated her, and is instructed by Vanessa to contact the dissidents in order to set about bringing forth a new age for the struggling Methuselah.

Alessandro innocently wonders around the city, knowing he is lost and runs into local Methuselah in the ghetto. They look after him before help arrives, but Sister Esther is caught up in a web by an unknown terror while searching for Alessandro herself, until she realizes it is someone she knows who has kept her there alive until later.

In the final volume everything is coming to a head with Abel ready to take Cain down, the Methuselah trying to destroy the world and humanity as they know it, while Alessandro brings humanity finally to Vanessa though she is surprised.

While watching how this story evolves, the viewer will think more emotionally about the characters of the Methuselah who exist in poverty in the ghettos, and who are the real hope for the humans but who feel cast down and hidden by the humans themselves after all the help they have provided in the advancement of their civilization. It is hard to think of the Methuselah as bad people, as it is those above them who are corrupt and want a new world order for their own gain.

Many of the characters who some would consider favourites are in these final episodes.

A welcome return for Father Hugue who helps out the AX, and Brother Petro and Sister Paula, but there is also another two who come out of the woodwork to create a stir and fans will enjoy the return of these dastardly characters. Cain, normally seen as a rather dark and dangerous figure truly shows his contrast to Abel's dark alter-ego in Cruznik form.

As all the pieces in the conspiracy have been revealed, the scope for a second series seems obvious from what happens at the end. What is also obvious is that viewers will automatically want more after witnessing such a fantastic spectacle of a final episode.
