Hikaru has finally made it through the Pros Exams and he’s now a pro Go player. But his battle is only beginning. He hungers to face Akira Toya across the Go board again, but learns that it could take up to five years before he can face the top players! With his desire to face his rival and Sai’s search for the Divine Move, how will they hope to achieve their dreams with that kind of wrench in their plans?

Things get tense when Hikaru is called to compete in the Shinshodan series which pits pro rookies against top level players. He’s specifically requested to face none other than Meijen Toya, Akira’s father! But there’s also another problem. Sai wants to play the older man! He has become increasingly worried that Hikaru will no longer allow him to play Go. Whichever choice Hikaru makes, it will be a game to remember!

Later, Hikaru takes Sai to a Go Amateur Festival to cheer Sai up. But there they discover a fraud scheme run by various members including a pro player. Fake Go boards, forgeries, it outrages Sai and ignites Hikaru’s sense of right and justice. He confronts the perpetrators and lands himself into hot water. Now he has to play the pro player and he’s ready to teach the wayward man a lesson he won’t soon forget!

A manga that constantly impressed with the way it manages to make such a cerebral game into suspenseful action, Hikaru no Go is one of the more inspired sports manga out there and an excellent way to lean more about Go and the culture surrounding it.

IN SUMMARY:
Hikaru has finally made pro but now must face the toughest opponent yet – Toya’s father!
