In the aftermath of the ballroom disaster, Yuichi tries to salvage what he can, help Mai and figure out the mystery surrounding Shiori.

In the strange city where it seems to always be perpetually trapped in Winter, Yuichi tries to help Mai, but is frustrated at every turn by her taciturn nature. Meanwhile he gets more clues about Shiori yet few answers as he delves deeper into the secrets that surround him. Fox spirits, invisible demons, beautiful demon hunters, it is more like a fantasy yet has the heavier weight of heartbreak lurking at the edges of this ongoing drama.

Mai’s story is interconnected with Sayuri and in this volume we learn about Sayuri’s tragic past and why she is so close to Mai. When she gets hurt, Mai blames herself and Yuichi learns about Mai’s special powers, the rejection and fear she’s had to live with all her life and the special tie that binds them.

Each of the stories holds its own fragile miracle and each its own bittersweet heart filled with loneliness, suffering, and hope. This volume sees Mai and Sayuri’s tale come to a resolution. The last episode on this volume focuses more on Ayu and Shiori. Ayu panics when she thinks Yuichi’s aunt Akiko has fallen ill. It seems to be tied in with something that happened with her mother. Clues, but no answers yet about her. However Shiori’s tale hits hard when Yuichi at last uncovers her secret and time is running out for her wish to be fulfilled. Heartbreak or hope, which will win out in the end?
