Twelve-year-old Naota lives an ordinary existence in a Japanese town where a new power plant has been erected - and that is the most interesting part of his time there. He thinks nothing unusual or out of the ordinary will happen to him until Haruhara, a vespa riding crazy girl comes into town and whacks him with her Rickenbacker guitar, causing a lump to emerge from his forehead. Disturbed by these recent events, Naota has a dream of going to see a physician and to find what he thinks of the lump, only to wake from a nightmare. He is still more disturbed to hear the crazy vespa girl has been hired by his parents to be the new live-in housekeeper. Naota is dead against her being there even though he actually grows to like her eventually. FLCL is a strange, somewhat insane anime, which has a lot to offer an eager audience. Created by Kazuya Tsurumaki who also created Rebuild of Evangelion, and written by Yuji Enokido who penned Neon Genesis Evangelion, Fooly Cooly is a seemingly ordinary starting tale where a young boy lives in a town where nothing happens and his life is generally dull. It only takes the arrival of Haruhara into the scene providing all the excitement Naota needs for his life to turn around in the most peculiar way imaginable. Haruhara has her reason for coming to the town, yet she hides who and what she really is. Viewers will like the speed of the episodes and how the story leaps out at the screen in part comic book treat earlier on in the first volume. It will be seen as fun and amazing simultaneously. The jokes and madness are non-stop and different in many ways to normal everyday anime, that will lead the viewer into a rollercoaster of humour as they will get to know the characters.
