The final volume and the end of the world is about to happen unless Shuro relents and kills Isaac, his clone brother. In the last battle between these two, neither might walk away intact. As the choices close down to only one thing, live or die, Shuro will have to face death in order to truly live. Eternal Sabbath has been a riveting story. It’s been cerebral, often pushing the envelope in terms of its provocative subject matter. Edgy and often merciless in its look at humanity, the conclusion to the series sees many shocks and surprises. Sakaki begs for Mine to help him convince Shuro to kill Isaac. Meanwhile Isaac goes to horrible lengths to force Shuro to face him. After a touching moment between Mine and Shuro, the final battle between the two powerful espers commences. But in this case Shuro is at a great disadvantage, unlike Isaac who has nothing to lose, Shuro has everything and everyone he wants to protect. There is no end to the possible victims that Isaac might choose, but there is certainly one above all others that would devastate Shuro the most – Mine. In the aftermath of the great battle, when all is thought to be over, the true battle begins as Mine must face Isaac. To do so she will have to face her past, a past she has hidden from herself all this time and could destroy her. Mine facing Isaac on her own is quite something. With the tale being primarily about Shuro, this turnabout was both unexpected and fascinating to see more into Mine’s character. A great deal happens between Isaac, Shuro and Mine with many powerful visuals found in the artwork. However, for such a hard hitting series, I have to confess that I found the very end to be a somewhat soft compared to the earlier unflinching subject matter and overall vein of the story. Being such an unpredictable series, I couldn’t say that I was expecting anything specific, just something for more impact. Nevertheless the series itself has been a mesmerizing one.
IN SUMMARY: Shocking twists await in the conclusion to Eternal Sabbath.
