DVD art box is not of Death Note Vol. 4 Deluxe Edition. Actual art box image used in this review is shown below
The cat and mouse game between L and Light has hit a very interesting and pretty snag that could turn ugly fast for Light in the form of the beautiful and exuberant Misa. She not only has set herself up as a second Kira and captured the attention of L, but she truly does have a second Death Note, a shinigami, and a power Light himself does not possess. The latest volume sees tables turn and turn again as the trap gets ever more complex in the mesmerizing maze of Death Note. An astounding anime, the story evolves and ensnares at every turn. Misa is a fascinating character. She could have been passed off as a simple exuberant bimbo but she isn’t. She’s smart. Not as smart as geniuses L and Light, but smart enough to cause Light some serious problems, and perhaps an unusual and maniacal solution. He revels again just how cold and calculating he is when he seizes the opportunity to use Misa’s obsessed adoration to his advantage. But again, things never turn out quite how anyone expects and it gets very tense when L makes a move, staging a careful gambit in his efforts to discover if Light is truly the killer Kira. However, Light has his own plan in place, perhaps the riskiest one yet when he considers giving up something dear to him in order to throw L off his scent. A great deal more is learned about the Death Note and the shinigamis in this volume. On top of all the things going on, Light has also gained an enemy. Misa’s shinigami Rem makes a promise on Misa’s behalf, one that Light might not like at all! Every turn of this story is captivating. There has never been so tightly woven and intricate a suspense in anime as Death Note.
EXTRAS: The DVD case has great Gothic cover art with red foil stencilling for the title and a black translucent DVD case. It features reverse cover art. There is also audio commentary on episode 14 with Jiro Okada (Associate Producer/Script Editor) and Shannon Chan-Kent (Misa). L closes in on Light, forcing Kira to make the greatest personal sacrifice he could in order to throw L off, but will his desperate strategy work?
