Maho Sensei Negima! ~ Shoroki Tsubasa ALA ALBA ~ OVD (original video DVD) Episode 1 details revealed. OVD will be sold as part of the manga, and new anime series will follow manga story.
During the "Negima-bu Double Event", an event held on 4/12 at SHIBUYA-AX, information was revealed about Episode 1 (titled "Negima-bu Zoshoku-chu") of the new "Maho Sensei Negima!" anime series, called "Maho Sensei Negima! ~ Shoroki Tsubasa ALA ALBA~".
"Maho Sensei Negima!" is a hit series with over 12,000,000 volumes published, and adapted into an anime twice before. Continuing from the second series, "Negima!?", this new series will be produced by Shaft and directed by Akiyuki Shinbo. "Negima!?" included anime-original developments, but this new series will have the original manga author Ken Akamatsu as producer, and it will stay as true to the original manga as possible.
In the story, the young magician in training named Negi Springfield, who works as a teacher in the junior high division of the Mahora Academy for Girls, along with his 31 students in class 2-A, are promoted to the 3rd year. When the school festival ends and summer break begins, Negi announces that he is going back to Wales to find his father (who is a great magician), and will not be coming back until he finds him. When Asuna hears this, she starts the "We're all going to find Negi's father and come back to school together" club, or the "Negima Club" for short.And then her classmates hear that if they get a white wing shaped badge that symbolizes a member of the club, they can go to England...
This new series set for released as OADs (original animation DVDs) which will come packaged with limited edition versions of manga volumes 23-25.They will be sold at book stores.
There have been other OADs which have been bundles with limited editions of manga, such as "Kodomo no Jikan" and "Ichigeki Sacchu!! HoiHoi-san", but this will be the first attempt at a series. Because more of these OADs will be shipped than normal DVDs, they can be offered to fans for a cheap price. Not only that, but since author Ken Kamatsu could assume that fans of the original manga would be watching it, he could make the story even deeper.
The limited edition of manga volume 23, which will include Episode 1 of the OAD, will also come with a box which will hold all three discs. The release is set for August 2008, and pre-orders will begin on 4/17.
Manga Vol. 24, with OAD 2, is set to be released Nov. 2008, and Manga Vol. 25, with OAD 3, is set to be released Feb. 2009. Each will cost 3570 yen (tax included).
