Princess Abi’s displeasure at being used by Naraku causes her to break with him as she continues to work to restore her demon mother back to full health. In her bid to strike at Naraku, she may have unintentionally led Kagura to the key to defeating Naraku once and for all. Yet even as Kagura plots, Inuyasha and friends race to get to the final jewel shard before Naraku does. Their heroism will pit Sango into a painful reunion as she faces off with none other than her brother Kohaku!

Drama, excitement and supernatural fantasy combine for another enthralling installment of this epic feudal fairy tale. The varying evil machinations of Abi, her mother, and Naraku all come to fruition but with different results. First is an unexpected reunion between Sango and Kohaku as the past threatens to repeat itself for more tragedy. There is also the reunion between Inuyasha and Kikyo, but what is it she has to say to him and what will Kagome’s reaction be once she learns of their meeting? The anguish doesn’t stop there as Inuyasha learns part of Naraku’s plot and it involves Kagome! The volume ends with an incredible 3-way battle between Abi and her mother versus Naraku and Inuyasha and his friends. The end of the violent foray will see some characters fall never to rise again and the path to the Netherworld opening the door to the final shard of the Sacred Shikon Jewel.

What a thrilling story! It has such unforgettable characters and keeps moving along at a good pace with enough action mixed with dramatic intrigue to keep you guessing and keep you hooked. We see how far the relationships have evolved between Sango and Miroku, as well as the changes in Kikyo’s and Inuyasha relationship, and the subtler alterations in his relationship with Kagome as the two of them grow ever closer. This volume also features the latest new opening theme song “Angelus” sung by Hitomi Shimatani.

Volume 51 contains episodes 152 to 154.
