Dayan’s adventures show a hint of danger in the latest volume. He discovers an astonishing festival that happens at night and a sly villain enters the scene to do the residents of Tachiel wrong! Late at night the moon shines bright and sings a very special song bringing to life all the shadows that belong to the residents of Tachiel. Tonight is the evening for the Chibikuro Party, the festival for shadows and is held only once a year. Dayan learns about all this and his friendly shadow invites him along. However, Noel, a villain who serves The Satan in Death forest, has snuck into the party for the sole purpose of stealing all the shadows! Through trickery he tries to lure them across Sand where they will become no more! Dayan must race to get help in order to save his shadow along with everyone else’s. Out of the first four novels, this is the first time a villain has appeared. Noel is a crafty character. The mention of the Death Forest and The Satan might be construed as something a bit frightening for some younger children as well as a tad Christianized to some readers. But we never see The Satan, that character is only mentioned. Parents who are concerned, simply give the book a perusal before your purchase to make sure it is something you don’t think would be too scary for your younger children or inappropriate if you have religious misgivings over the reference to a “Satan” even if the story maybe doesn’t mean quite that one. And the forces of good, this being a fantasy story geared more towards children than adults, naturally overcome in the end. The way it happens is wonderfully creative and the stuff of fine children storytelling that captures the imagination.
IN SUMMARY: Things get a little scary for Dayan when a villain tries to steal everybody’s shadow in the latest adventure of the young kitty cat.
