Kadokawa Digix's CEO explains his company's partnership with YouTube.
Mr. Fukuda, the CEO of Kadokawa Digix, discussed his corporations partnership with YouTube during a recent lecture given for theTokyo Content Producers. The partnership will be an effort to promote new and existing audio-visual creations via a business alliance, and related his strategy for their future web business affiliation, as well as safeguards for the protection of intellectual properties. Realizing that the environment surrounding the animation business in Japan is rapidly changing, Mr. Fukuda sees that the many web-based efforts and outlets, such as YouTube, can be an important platform to introduce new talent. He sees that today all of Japan can be considered a source for new talent, and his stance is to judge artists abilities via their creations, meticulously examining them one by one. Priority of the Kadokawa Group will be the protection of the content holders’ rights, while generating revenue from banner ads, pointing out that existing video hosting services operation in the red. This basic scheme is what has allowed YouTube to become a successful medium. He feels that while many other organizations have tried video hosting and streaming services, Kadokawa Group always seems to be a step ahead of them and now stands at the frontline, as well as having in their inventory a great deal of popular content. Mr. Fukuda's presentation was well received by the participants attending the lecture.
