Kakeru has recovered from his first encounter with the Greenhouse psychics sent to capture or kill the runaway super-powered humans that he has befriended. Each time Kakeru was saved by what he considers to be freak accidents and luck, but what if he truly is a psychic even more powerful than his new friends? And just what is a Category Zero and what will it mean for Kakeru?

More action, intrigue and excitement are in the latest volume of Psycho Busters. The runaway psychics Xia Long, Kaito, Joi and Ayano try to settle down with the help of Kakeru putting them up at his house and the added assistance of Hiyama whose past and reason behind her combat abilities and unflappable nature have yet to be revealed. The biggest mystery however surrounds Joi and Kakeru. Joi awakens from his coma to discuss a new strategy and it is revealed just why the Greenhouse will send out everyone they have and risk anything to get him back. But more mysterious is his connection with Kakeru. Again there is something there from the past, some unremembered tie that Kakeru can’t quite reach. And there is still the even greater mystery of Kakeru himself. Just why does Joi think the young man is their only hope? And what powers does Kakeru truly have? A shared vision of the disastrous future shows them beaten yet fighting a power mad Ikushima. The end of the world is drawing near and it maybe up to them, and more so Kakeru to become the unlikely hero in this incredible story.

More psychics are sent and battles rage in secret. This time they must fight not only Maya and Sho, but an incredibly powerful psychokinetic name Takemaru. Again Kakeru ends up alone in a one on one. And again he tries to bluff his way out. His saving grace is his compassion. In learning more about the psychics and their abusive pasts and tragic childhoods, the more sympathy he has, even for his enemy. His sympathy doesn’t fare well with Takemaru and it leads to the awakening of something deep within Kakeru, a boy who always considered himself normal.

With all this suspense and action there is down time, during which Kakeru learns more about his friends, the Greenhouse, and the weight his new friends bear. His heart goes out to each of them, showing Kakeru to be a truly kind and selfless person. What the future holds for this group, only time will tell, time, and the psychic Joi.

Manga extras include extensive translation notes, a message from Akinari Nao, illustration gallery, comic panels, and a preview of the next volume in its original Japanese.
