It’s the year 200X and everyone in DenTech City is plugged into the Net. But living in cyberspace isn’t always fun and games. High-tech crimes and pesky viruses are always a big problem for the authorities. Thank goodness for MegaMan and his NetOperator, Lan Hikari. Together, they do their best to keep their hometown safe from being permanently deleted.

When MegaMan unlocked the ancient “Beast” program, he gained the dangerous ability to “Beast Out” and unleashed a monster as old as the Net itself. Now, to win the power to stop Gregar, MegaMan has to prove his worth as the world’s top NetNavi. Worse, his arch-rival Bass has gained the power to Beast Out as well. When Gregar breaks out of the Net and into the real world, can MegaMan and Lan stop the rampage?

A new force has been unleashed from the darkest, wildest realms of the Net - a menace more dangerous than anything DenTech City has ever faced. What is it? MegaMan himself! Transformed by the mysterious "Beast" program, MegaMan has developed the unwelcome power to turn into a rampaging monster. While Lan's scientist dad searches for a solution, MegaMan and Lan try to deal with MegaMan's beastly new condition...while fighting the world's most powerful Net Navis!

The art is very rounded and fun and cartoon-like – it’s the perfect mix to be especially attractive to kids. But it’s still very proficient and detailed – there is no lack of talent behind the visuals in this work. The action scenes and the fight scenes are pretty spectacular – lots of speed lines and explosions and waves of energy burst out from every direction. The diversity of characters and character design make this a very worthwhile read indeed. The good guys and bad guys and everyone in between are all drawn with care and attention to detail. They are all so different and have their own unique abilities, so it’s actually a lot of fun to read about them and see them duke it out.

I always find it interesting to know a bit about the author/artist of any manga – it always opens a window into the mind that is bringing the entertainment we are enjoying to life. Ryo Takamisaki is the author/artist for MegaMan NT Warrior. Born on August 14, 1963, Ryo Takamisaki grew up in Ibaragi watching combat sports and participating in motor sports. In addition to MegaMan (known as ROCK MAN EXE in Japan), Takamisaki's representative works include CHARGER 500, THE KING OF FIGHTERS G, GODZILLA vs. MEGAGUIRUS, and KAZE NO EL DORADO. Takamisaki's favourite manga is HAJIME NO IPPO. You can be sure to see some more great work from him in the future – he seems to really enjoy the manga industry and being a part of it!

IN SUMMARY:
A fantastic introduction to manga for kids and any teens and adults that have enjoyed the MegaMan video games that have been coming to North America since the early nineties. Fun art and drawn out action make this series a surefire hit with boys and maybe even some girls too!
