9th International Manga Summit returning to Japan with the theme “Environmental Innovation”.
The International Manga Summit is an event for manga artists to have an international exchange through Manga. The summit was launched in 1996 as the East Asia Manga Summit with Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan as part of its governing body. Today, the summit represents 26 participating countries, and this will be the first time in four years the event is returning to Japan.
This year’s summit theme called “Environmental Innovation”, will attempt to pursue and inform society about environmental conservation through manga with three sub-themes focusing on Global Warming Prevention, Dietary Education, and The 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle). Manga artist Shinji Mizushima is the chairperson for the event, and Machiko Satonaka as the vice chairperson. The location will be in Kyoto International Conference Center from September 6 - 8, 2008.
