The internet has been a buzz about the popularity of the new manga Fairy Tail, but readers are still wondering why it bares so much resemblance to One Piece. There is even word out there that Fairy Tail author, Hiro Mashima, was an assistant of Eiichiro Oda during his career; which was eventually debunked by Tricia of Del Rey Manga as she offers a simpler explanation on why both works look similar on her lastet blog entry.
