The arrival of the newest transfer student Maria to the Night Class has the vampires in an uproar. And they’re not the only ones trying to figure out her agenda. As soon as Zero catches sight of her, he pales. He denies the reaction to Yuki but she can tell something is wrong. Just who is this mysterious new vampire and what are her ties to vampire hunter Zero?

This is a pivotal volume is Vampire Knight as the main characters find themselves in a labyrinth of deceit and memories from the past. Zero is at last face to face with the vampire who slaughtered his family and bound him to her. But what will he do? His own vampire hunger is rising. When the pureblood vampire promises Yuki that she will tell the girl of a way to save Zero from falling into madness and having to be put to death as his vampire nature overrides his reason, Yuki must make a choice: kill Kaname or sacrifice herself to the vampire who bound Zero!

Tremendously suspenseful, Vampire Knight has it all for supernatural fans – intrigue, beautiful vampires, and deadly secrets. Zero’s past is fully revealed and shows readers what happened that cold night that left him marked forever and now sees him becoming the very monster he hates most. A shocking revelation lays there in the past and is about to shatter everything in the present for both Yuki and Zero. Kaname, still trying to keep his own hidden agenda in play, must make his own move regarding Maria. The end of this volume will shock readers and leave you waiting for the next installment with baited breath.

The artwork is so fantastic, it’s simply lovely to look at all on its own. There’s a lush Gothic style to it that is exceptionally suited to the theme of vampires and nighttime fears…and attractions. They are portrayed as both alluring and dangerous all in the same stroke. It’s wonderful storytelling and has a stunning illustrative style that’s gripping.

IN SUMMARY:
Zero’s past revealed, a shocking betrayal and a new character arrive to throw the heroes into chaos. This volume is a crucial must have for Vampire Knight fans that they simply cannot afford to miss. It’s dark, captivating and delicious torture in suspense and supernatural intrigue.
