FUNIMATION REPRESENT AT AFI DALLAS 2008!

Vexille to represent FUNimation Entertainment at the AFI DALLAS International Film Festival. The animated CG is scheduled to screen on April 4, 2008 at 10:15.


The AFI DALLAS International Film Festival, presented by Target and founding sponsor Victory Park, will be featuring one of the most creative forms in cinema during it's March 27th - April 6th run: animation.
 
An outstanding line-up of animated feature-length and short films await festival attendees, including animation ranging from the latest visual FX films to family-friendly cartoons. This year's festival brings different types of animation from around the world and features the films in several showcases: Family, Maverick and the Animation Competition (shorts).
 
Among the selections in the Family Shorts Block on April 5th and 6th are the animated short films, ASTON'S STONES, RACCOON AND CRAWFISH and SUNNY DAY.
 
Also of note is the dark, futuristic cg-animated VEXILLE which can be seen in the Maverick Series on Friday, April 4. Set in the year 2077, the story follows Japan's isolation after the United Nations bans further research on robotic technology out of concerns of a threat to mankind. The U.S. has intelligence that Japan is developing the banned technology and dispatches a team on a secret mission to determine Japan's ambitions. Directed by Fumihiko Sori with music by Paul Oakenfold. Both will be in attendance.
 
Animation fans will also not want to miss the Animated Shorts Competition with films about little gangsters (LIL' ITALY), robots (SIMULACRA), voodoo dolls (VOODOO BAYOU) and one man's obession with dessert (KEY LIME PIE). These shorts and more can be seen on Sunday, March 30th or Tuesday, April 1st.

This year, the AFI DALLAS Star Award, which is presented annually by the AFI DALLAS International Film Festival to a select group of film artists in recognition of their unique contributions to cinema, will be given to Helen Hunt, Jack Lemmon, Mickey Rooney, Todd Wagner and Charlize Theron.
 
Other highlights include outstanding performances by Helen Hunt, Colin Firth and Bette Midler (Then She Found Me), Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson, Ray Liotta, Andre Benjamin and Michelle Rodriguez (BATTLE IN SEATTLE), Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell, Amy Sedaris (SNOW ANGELS), and finally Robert DeNiro, Bruce Willis, Sean Penn, Catherine Keener, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro (WHAT JUST HAPPENED?). The highly anticipated documentary PUBLIC ENEMY - WELCOME TO THE TERRORDOME. There are also many other features, documentaries and short films in AFI DALLAS 2008 that feature outstanding filmmakers and talent.
