At last the conclusion to this intriguing supernatural series is here. Focusing almost purely on the ongoing arc introduced throughout the series, this sees the head of the clash between Haruka, the Black Goblin, and those who wish to awaken him to his full demonic power and break his sealed memories. All this will cause Kantaro no end of danger and woe and trouble for their friends.
The cunning woman Doji Ibaragi has set a trap with the help of the plotting Minamoto. Rosalie ends up possessed, and what at first appears as a lark becomes a grave matter for the supernatural detective Kantaro and his friends. They fall right into the duo’s trap and discover too late its true purpose: to fully awaken the Demon-Eating Goblin Haruka. It throws Haruka’s mind in turmoil and he is now a danger to both friend and foe. Unwilling to give up on Haruka, Kantaro is forced to make a terrible decision when Yoko and Suzu are put at risk. Sacrifice and tragedy may lie at every turn when at last the secret to Haruka’s past is partially revealed. Now the question is what will Kantaro do and what will it cost them all. At first the final volume begins slowly but by the halfway point it picks up tremendously with enemies at the gate, traps brought to fruition and major confrontations at hand. For all the build up to what Haruka’s past is and the enemies’ aims in regards to him, the payoff comes off a bit flat. A little anti-climatic, the conclusion nevertheless manages to wrap things up while still leaving things open for a second series. EXTRAS: Bonus features include an image gallery, trailers, original Japanese TV commercials, original Japanese merchandise ads, image gallery, and original music video “In a Corner of This World”, a character song sung by Kantaro (Japanese voice actor Kohki Miyata). IN SUMMARY: Tactics comes to a worthwhile conclusion with some dramatic turns in this final volume. |
