The Hori women, young virgins all, survived the brutal attack of the Seven Spears and have the help of legendary swordsman Yagyu Juubei to help train them so that they can gain their revenge by their own hands, even though it will surely cost them their lives.  First though, Yagyu must measure the strengths and weaknesses of his opponents and targets the vicious Daidoji Tessai as the first of the Spears to meddle with. He appears before him with a mask and a riddle and soon he has the Spears stirred up like a nest of angry wasps.

Training the women will be no easy task. These killers are brutal, vicious and without scruples. The gentle women of the Hori must cast aside their kindness and become killers. Their dedication is admirable as it is tragic. Yet hope, like a deadly worm, makes its way into their hearts as they go up against the first of their targets to avenge their clan. A complex strategy depending on cunning, subterfuge and speed make the web for vengeance to be had. But one small misstep, however slight, will cost them their lives and leave their honor in the dust and flowing out like blood.

There’s more happening than their revenge in this volume. Word of the Aizu’s Clan Head and his murderous ways with innocent women is spreading. Fear and a growing sense of unrest stirs among the populace against him and the Aizu Seven Spears is spreading. What will come of it remains to be seen.

Manga extras are translation notes including historical and cultural information, and a preview of the next volume translated in English.
