Captain Issa and his squad have been deployed on a dangerous mission to investigate a sighting of bloodthirsty Dracules just outside the city. But when a surprise attack from a mysterious villain threatens the very future of Mikuni City, Issa is forced to make a terrible choice: To save his home, he must reveal a dark secret from his past. But with a little teamwork and Issa’s Dragon Eye, anything is possible.

As the story progresses, the action is getting more dynamic as the art becomes increasingly good, fluid and ever consistent. We all know how dynamic and amazing anime can be, but it is often harder to make a manga “pop” because it simply doesn’t move – it is a still form of art. But the art in Dragon Eye just jumps off the page and smacks you in the face – it is hard not to feel involved in it. The monsters and creatures and evil characters have some really awesome designs – it wouldn’t be surprising if someone decided to make toys out of all these guys at some point. Something else that is so wicked is the amount of dust and rubble and crazy stuff that bursts out of every nook and cranny as characters duke it out. The action is a sweeping mess of dust clouds and destruction – gotta love it! The plot is progressing very well also, as character’s motivations and traits are coming more to light. The fast pacing is appreciated, as it results in a “never a dull moment” kind of feel to the series.

The extras and translation notes in the back of the book are also still very much appreciated. There are four pages of mini humor based comics relating to the series this time rather than just two, as well as explanations of some of the cultural jokes and references used in the book. Just to top it off there’s a short, not yet translated preview of volume four to give an indication of what could be happening in the continuing story. It’s a proficiently constructed manga with heaps of action and a fun cast of characters to keep you coming back for more. It may not change your life, but it will almost certainly entertain you.

IN SUMMARY:
Wholly dynamic art and characters come together to make a great piece of action that is more than worth giving a try. A very tasty chew for any Naruto or Bleach enthusiast, but with enough originality and personality to stand on it’s own.
