Pool time is psycho time when a witch hunter shows up and then it’s all out magical chaos as water sports gain a whole new meaning.  It all goes up in smoke when a ghost appears to stir up even more trouble than the magical girls can handle!

A new maid shows up to take Ayumi’s place, but this is no ordinary maid! Rika is the top maid of Ayumi’s household and she has all kinds of special, and potentially lethal, techniques to test the sisters with. Ayumi and Rika end up in a battle for the maids to win the position with Haruo. But is her agenda as straightforward as Rika claims it is?  There’s a lot to make you wonder in the latest volume of Magikano!

The appearance and battle with the super maid is one of the most hilarious episodes of the series so far in the anime. It has magic battles and a lot of MacGyver, Mission Impossible, spy-like action that it enjoys parodying. The show doesn’t stop with the laughs and outrageousness there. The sports festival sees an all new challenge amongst the girls when a spell gone wrong that was cast by Ayumi ensures that whichever girl wins gets a kiss from Haruo. The special race will determine the winner and it has girl-eating venus fly traps, vengeful sports teams, and all kinds of tricks and traps, plus the girls have to fight off each other and some of these gals aren’t above casting some spells to get their way!

Intrigue and drama make an unexpected appearance during the school cultural festival. Yuri is starring as Cinderella in the school play and Haruo is cast as her prince. Things would have perhaps gone smoothly except Ayumi’s vengeful sister appears and abducts him! The girls, witch hunters and witches alike, band together to save their boy and bring him back. They enter Michiru’s nefarious realm but she’s powerful and the girls are fought to a stand still. What makes this episode particularly dramatic is the serious storyline that enters the otherwise fun and frivolous harem plot. Ayumi is under some kind of curse, Michiru has her own agenda, but it seems to be that she’s not the only one. Just what is Rika really doing on the human world and what on Earth is Miss Hongo up to?!

Aside from the English dub still overusing the “b” word, the anime is tremendous fun, has some racy content, and at the end of this sassy volume an intriguing plot arises that has questions you’ll be yearning for answers to.
