Continuing from the last two volumes, Shinhye goes with Donghoon and he assures her father that they will be safe as he knows back roads the ones chasing them do not know about. Within minutes of them biking it down the street they come across an accident right in their path, of which looks devastating to their eyes.
Stunned and shocked people are all around them as they watch, but when Shinhye surveys the damage and looks on at the person who lies there dead, she sees someone she thought she would never witness, and declares it must all be a horrifying nightmare rather than a dream.
She realises Gires has been sent to attack them and they have killed someone very close to her she cannot get over even after months of rest and recuperation. It is the realisation that Rhedion could have saved the one person she loved so much, that she finds difficult to accept, which is not surprising considering how he died. Seera Jeane Gires men were the ones responsible for the murder, and Rhedion has eliminated them all or so he thinks. Shinhje states that she will not leave, so will the others persuade her otherwise? Throughout the novel, she wonders what this SeeraJeane is that they all mention as she feels so alone and despondent about what has occurred over the months she has been in isolation from others. The artwork in this volume like the last two is a mixture of chiaroscuro that creates the very best of shadows in this world Shinhye is living in - the trauma and hurt she feels is noticable through the artwork in question as there is devastation and sadness and it shows through in the detailled work Kyungok has created. Readers will think Shinhye's dream sequence was filled with despair and will feel almost terrifying in many ways. In some of the panels, there is an expanse of white, which shows the void Shinhye feels as a result of the accident and her mind coping with it. This is a startling piece of work and wonderful to read in many ways. The art shows at times how alone and unhappy she feels at the loss of someone she looked up to so much. IN SUMMARY: Well illustrated and bears many of the elements of traditional manga such as speed and intense action. A special and enlightening third volume. |
