SYNOPSIS:
A man-made island is located on the edge of Tokyo, well off the beaten path.  And now, the time is drawing near when this island of cold concrete will be set afire with passion.  People will gather here to draw manga, search for manga, and get passionate about manga!  It's a joyous celebration of individuals who have staked their entire youths on doujinshi.  It’s the event known as – Comic Party!  In this hilarious follow up to Comic Party, we rejoin Kazuki, Mizuki and all their friends a year later.  Kazuki has grown more confident in his abilities as a doujinshi (amateur comic) artist.  The rivalry between Yuu and Eimi has grown even fiercer, and Taishi is crazier than ever!

Contains the entire 13 episode series in a collectable thinpack box set!

REVIEW:
If you had a great time with ‘Comipa’ in the first season, the second season is even more fun with more girls, more craziness, and more otaku in-jokes than ever before! It’s college time and everyone is closer to their doujinshi dreams. Will Kazuki become a professional mangaka? Will Eimi ever beat Yuu in her increasingly insane rivalry? And will Kazuki and Mizuki ever get together? Well, this season doesn’t answer all those questions, but it sure knows how to have a good time along the way!

Fun-filled fan fare and doujinshi dreams. That’s what Comic Party Revolution is all about. The show is episodic, showcasing one of the many pretty and often crazy girls of Comipa each time. The anime adds characters new to the show but not the game the anime is based on. In Revolution we get to meet Subaru and Asashi. The show doesn’t focus too much on Kazuki, this one is all about the girls. There’s trips to the beach, pop idol secrets, a shameless pull on the heart strings when Tsukamoto Printing needs saving, a fierce cosplay battle, and more, more, more!

My favorite episode easily is the survival game challenge. It’s shenanigans with weaponry! The girls get down and dirty in this one.  Episode 12 gets serious when all the girls and single guy get different tours of the world of doujinshi and what it takes to make it in the biz. It’s a mountain of real life info for manga fans. The final episode is special. When faced with his future, Kazuki has a meltdown and an evil twin of Mizuki appears to lead him astray! Nude paintings?! Hallucinatory seductions!? Just what is going on? To find out, you’ll have to watch the show! It’s not only Mizuki who can be evil!

The anime stays true to the original with a nice glossy look and a whole lot of enthusiastic energy and bright colors. The girls all have appealing character designs, a little something for every otaku out there! There’s even a hilarious Prince of Tennis spoof with the girls, so I guess that’s ‘Princess of Tennis’ for Comipa fans. The animation even gets the feel of the Prince of Tennis style to spoof it dead on. The raciness in the final episode with evil Mizuki was an eye-opener and jaw-dropper.

The box set has all sorts of goodies including clean opening and ending animation, previews, What is Comic Party, Language of Doujinshi, text interviews with the Japanese voice actors, Japanese voice actor profiles, production art gallery, and How to Doujinshi.
