In the aftermath of the previous volume, Ryutaro Tominaga and Nami seem to have found a tenuous place in each others’ hearts. But this timid path to romance has many obstacles. With Christmas and New Years fast approaching, they face different challenges, the largest which seems to be confessing their feelings to each other and allowing their relationship to progress further. But bravery comes sometimes at a high cost. When a cruel classmate reveals the shocking past of Tominaga’s, chaos erupts and now Nami must make a choice, one that will involve her heart…and her magic.
The penultimate volume of this romantic drama series holds sweet affection in how their first dates are portrayed with Christmas and then New Years. However, their relationship also causes a stir among Nami’s friends, particularly Mitsukake. But it’s Kayoko’s reaction which will lead to the worst. And although Nami and Tominaga’s relationship is slowly evolving, Nami is troubled by a growing sense of apprehension and foreboding. When his past is revealed, the tragedy that helps to explain so much about him might also be what ultimately tears them apart. He must go and face his past. Will Nami follow her heart? Or stay scared of what is blossoming within her? Her lack of faith in herself has hindered her since the beginning of this story, it could be her love for Tominaga that might help her overcome it and let her heart, her love, and her magic bloom at last. Kayoko’s cruelty reaches all new heights in these chapters. Sympathy was carefully built up for her in previous volumes but now she may have gone too far, past the point of no return. It also offers one of the most striking illustrations in this volume with how Tominaga’s reaction is portrayed. His facial expression is amazing and a feat of illustrative talent. IN SUMMARY: The bittersweet tale of love, sorrow, and magic reaches new dramatic heights in the latest volume of Someday’s Dreamers Spellbound. |
