Esther and Ion are being taken care of by Seth, the tea seller from the previous volume. Esther has lost an entire day, but Esther has been protected by Seth and has a secret to tell which is only for her ears.
The palace of Siddai where the Empress rules over both Methuselah and Terran people who she views as equals rather than enemies. Esther thinks of the kingdom as prosperous now, but if something should ever happen to the Empress the place would become a dangerous battlefield and both races would feud like never before. Going to bring food and allowing Esther to rest, Ion comes across someone he thought he would never see again - someone from his past who encourages his wrath.Esther, Seth and Ion uncover another plot to kill the Empress so that Terran again become the prey while the Methuselah are the ravenous hunters. This volume has a much darker edge to it than the last as every second counts when the Empress is at the brink of assassination. Abel's character is really put to the test in this story. The Order of Rozen Kreuz are closer to their aim of destroying their progress, as all they did, they hoped would have been done in secret, yet there are always hidden enemies - ones who others would never suspect. Father Abel will have a lot to do if he is to keep order among the people of the outside world, and the vatican. Lives are at risk, and one such male stands in the way more than any other who Abel must track down and dispose of. This enemy has been around for a long time unknown to Abel, and his very name conjures up much of the terror he felt early on.Abel and Esther have journeyed far and wide in order to protect the city and the Terran people from the very grip of Rozen Kreuz. In the previous volume, Sister Esther seems to have forgiven Father Abel for what he did to his enemy while he was in his terrifying Kruznik form as nothing more is mentioned in this fifth volume. Viewers will remember how scared she felt around him later on, and how badly Father Abel felt at having to expose her to his normally dormant inner side. Viewers will find this volume a welcome return to the dark aspect of the previous volume and will be content that there is more yet to come. This is thrilling and intriguing in all the right places. EXTRAS: Text-less opening and closing animations as well as trailers for other anime titles make this a very entertaining viewing experience. IN SUMMARY: This title packs so much punch, brilliantly scripted and is just what the viewer will want.
