Mei and Yurara are now involved romantically. But still her guardian spirit’s feelings for Yako pull at her. When Yako continues to be seriously depressed, a visit will introduce new characters: his bitter cousin Minami and a pretty young man from Yurara’s past. There’s more than one new rival who enters the picture in the latest and penultimate installment of Yurara, a supernatural romance with more than one twist.
Takatoki is a long ago childhood friend of Yurara’s and has powerful gifts of his own. He proves a possible rival for Mei in regards to Yurara. He’s kind of in his own world at times though as he doesn’t seem to grasp that the two different Yurara’s are in a way the same person. Mei and Yurara go on their first official date, but with her preoccupation over Yako, Mei may figure out the truth about how the Guardian Spirit within Yurara feels towards his old friend. Recalling how deeply insecure and wounded Mei is underneath his flirtatious and causal bravado, this eats away at him terribly. When push truly comes to shove, the feelings for the Guardian Spirit that Yako has are acted upon and it may just spell ruin for Yurara’s relationship with Mei, just when it began! There’s quite the dramatic final scene in this volume with Yako kissing Yurara passionately. It’s not all completely about the supernatural love ‘square’ the main characters have found themselves in. There are some segues and side-stories that offer energetic comedy in the midst of all the romantic drama. Minami is a project for Yurara as she tries to get to know the moody girl better. There’s a touching scene about her mother and the reason behind her anger and grief. However, this quickly turns humorous when upon meeting and being saved by the Guardian Spirit. Minami is smitten and chasing after the dark haired Yurara. IN SUMMARY: It’s a supernatural romance with a twist! Even though this is the penultimate volume, it’s keeping readers guessing as to who will end up with whom. |
