That idiot reporter does not know what is good for him. He’s snooping around Hell Girl with his daughter in tow and to heck with the consequences! This is a guy who has bitten off WAY more than he can chew! Based on the weird and creepy tie his daughter has with The HG (and wouldn’t that freak you out as a parent?), they go to an island. There, they find out about a tragedy running in one family, a tragedy threatening to repeat itself again! Someone has an axe to grind in the latest volume of Hell Girl, and you can take that literally!

These tales are getting more creepy as they go along. The island woman story has murder on the menu and the bones might start to pile up. With his daughter’s visions of Hell Girl getting stronger and more detailed, he gets enough info to try to stop the people he tracks down from making a choice that will damn them eternally. But this isn’t an optimistic feel-good anime. So don’t be expecting any happy endings any time soon or ever. Brrr! These supernatural vengeance beings are pretty cold! It doesn’t matter how hard done by the person is, when they send whatever evil being it is to Hell, they seal their own fates for the same torment later on down the road. I can see why Mr. Photojournalist wants to stop that from happening, the victims have heinous stuff that they’ve endured. It doesn’t seem right to have them face worse just because they give the villains in their lives some just desserts! But they do, and he’s scoring so far 0: infinity with The HG on the big score side.

The trip to the circus is anything but relaxing as he tries to save another girl from Hell’s clutches. From there he and his little girl take a trip to a place where a ghost might see him finally face Ai Enma (aka Hell Girl) in person! But the harshest episode yet has got to be the last one here. A girl, her dogs, and a hateful old woman make for a gut-wrenching story. This is the one and only time in the series that I wanted the hapless kid to pull the red string and to pull it sooner. I can’t stomach cruelty to animals, even when their cartoon ones. Hell Girl is an anime that pulls no punches. It leaves no person unscarred. Watch at your on risk!
