SYNOPSIS: Having returned victorious from their battle with Frieza, the Z-fighters can at last breathe a collective sigh of relief…But they won’t have long to rest. A new host of villains has appeared, ready to wreak havoc on the Earth- and Goku, the Z-fighters’ greatest hero is still missing!
In the face of these new dangers, a mysterious youth with Super Saiyan powers has come bearing a bleak prediction for the future: in just three years’ time, an evil greater than any the Z-Fighters have ever faced will emerge to cast a shadow of destruction and despair over the Earth. And if the young Saiyan’s prediction is correct, the Z-Fighters will have to train like they have never trained before in order to have any hope against these seemingly unstoppable foes- the Androids! The complete fourth season consisting of 32 episodes on 6 DVD discs collected in a vibrant orange art box. It covers episodes 108 to 139. . REVIEW: Get ready for more action, more peril, and bigger heroics than ever before in Dragon Ball Z! They thought they had it rough against Frieza. This season they have not one, not two, but at least three, if not four different threats facing the Earth and the galaxy! Old villains return from the dead, new villains show up to make evil merry and a new hero appears on the scene! First Garlic Jr. shows up and this little guy is big evil! He’s got minions named the Spice Boys and they might sound silly but the Z-Fighters better not take them for fluff! These are hard core fighters and they’ll do whatever Garlic Jr. says. And they’re not the only ones. The big little bad spreads a poisonous black cloud over the entire planet and with his mental voodoo, he can put the psychic whammy on people and make them do whatever he wants! The good guys have it harsh when they go up against them and he turns them against each other. Pretty soon it’s Gohan fighting against his own best buddies Piccolo and Krillin! That was all tough enough but when Frieza returns from the dead thanks to his dear old dad, the Z-Fighters now have to face a super-powered cyborg Frieza –as if the original wasn’t bad enough without the super cyborg enhancements! He attacks the Earth with his father King Cold and things are looking mighty slippery for the good guys this time – until a new face appears! Trunks shows up, a fighter from the future and he’s arrived just in the nick of time to save not only Goku, but maybe the future too! Trunks’ character adds some serious warrior flavor to the already super hyped muscle bound show. The guy is intense and has a wicked cool sword and doesn’t take kindly to anyone messing with his planet – no matter what era! But he didn’t arrive from the future to help with Frieza. There’s a bigger bad then him on the horizon and it might be more than our Z-Fighters can handle! The Androids are coming~ The Androids are coming!! Things get down right nasty with the Androids made by Dr. Gero hit the scene. They’re stronger, faster, and they’re robots so good luck trying to hurt them. They lay Goku way low and even when Vegetta hits a new power plateau he’s not enough to stop them. The team is hitting a wall and is running out of options. Goku is down and out and the team is on the run trying to keep the Androids from finishing off Goku! As if things couldn’t get worse, the season ends with all this still going on and ups the show with a mystery when a second time travel capsule appears that looks exactly like Trunks but older! Just who – or what – was in it? Just like the previous season releases by FUNimation, this one also has wicked crisp and clear re-mastered audio and video transfers from the original Japanese source! You get the choice of the original Japanese, the English dubbed with Japanese music soundtrack, and English dubbed with the English music for those nostalgic types who want what they remembered as kids watching the TV. EXTRAS: Extra goodies include FUNimation trailers and a 24 page booklet that has profiles of the heroes and villains, background info, and summaries of all the episodes in season 4. IN SUMMARY: Four times the villains! Four times the excitement! Four times the action in the fourth season of Dragonball Z! And for fans who want to know more about Trunks, you can get his back story in the DBZ double feature available on the same day as this box set! |
