Vampires and vampire hunters mix it up for truly dangerous liaisons in the entertaining one-shot manga Necratoholic. Sakuya is a handsome noble vampire with a very serious problem: he can’t drink human blood. This is all because of a striking vampire hunter he met a while back who ravished him and now Sakuya can think about no one else. When the hunter in question, dhampir Atsumi, shows up on Sakuya’s doorstep, the head games and bedroom drama are about to being!
This is a great and fun one-shot story about sexy vampires, dominant vampire hunters, and all sorts of comedic and risqué action that happens between them in and out of the sheets. This bawdy vampire tale has a lot of humor to it with its unique take on vampire life. Sakuya isn’t merely some lovely noble vampire in Goth outfits looking sexy and mysterious, he actually helps run an inn where he’s the “Queen” serving as the S&M dominant to those needing a special outlet. He keeps trying to become a “true” vampire again and drink regular human blood but to no avail. He keeps suffering, having Atsumi constantly on his mind. When the hunter (culprit) in question shows up and they fight, kiss, fight, kiss some more…the long-lived but apparently humorously clueless vampire doesn’t seem to be able to distinguish that the passionate “hate” he feels towards Atsumi is something else entirely. Even if he can figure out the obvious, he’ll still have to deal with the huge taboo of consorting with a dhampir (a half-human, half-vampire), the natural hunters of vampires. Helsing himself, looking rather pretty, shows up to claim Atsumi back from the vampire who may have stolen his protégé’s heart. Rivals in love, these two arch enemies will have to sort it out and hopefully no one will be having stake for dinner in this entertaining tale of how good it can feel when love bites! I love the art work in this. It’s above the average quality of general yaoi. It’s fun, nicely designed, great Goth looks to the vampires, and well done action sequences that are rendered quite bloody considering the subject matter (vampires). There’s also some tongue-in-cheek illustrative fun as in the case of the bat and extreme comedic expression on the part of the characters. And it has some original ideas like the tongue tattoos and their meaning. IN SUMMARY: Necratoholic , the yaoi manga that proves how much fun it can be when love bites!
