To recap, a kid named Kiyo who was wicked smart grew an ego too big for his britches. So one day he’s sent a surprising gift: a strange boy-like creature named Zatch Bell! With it are a spell book and a destiny. Kiyo must team up with the mamodo Zatch and use the red spell book to unleash Zatch’s powers and win a tournament that will decide who will be the next ruler of the mamodo world! This vole contains eps 29 to 32 and they’re the dubbed edited TV version. Even the opening theme song is dubbed in English. In this latest pack of powers battling it out, Kiyo and Zatch go out for a day off. Just when you thought the amusement park was safe the two are beset by a double teaming dirty dealing mamodo group and it looks like Zatch and Kiyo are about to get the spell cast smackdown. Megumi and Tia show up to teach them what teamwork is really about. But can they all work together to stop the baddies from getting them down? Just when you thought they’d get a breather, a new transfer student named Shion arrives. She’s awful cute with a sweet little kitty and shows up at the same time as Zatch finds a piece of a broken mirror. Nothing is what it seems in these last two episodes of the latest volume of Zatch Bell! The show comes out fast and fun. It’s got spell casting battles galore and there’s always something happening. It even gets out a couple of chuckle worthy moments. If I had a kid brother, this is exactly the fun kind of show he’d love and I’d love to watch with him. Plus it has good messages about team work, what friendship means, and the whole good winning over bad deal. The final episode where we learn about who Shion and her cat, is wicked cool. The clues to what the broken mirror is and the fate of that girl and her cat are all tied up into a bigger mystery for Kiyo and Zatch to tackle. The bad guys are looming and time is running out! EXTRAS: Extras include previews of other Viz titles, Zatch games and manga. IN SUMMARY: Zatch Bell is a shonen anime about a good guy battling it out spell-wise with his magical buddy to become the next ruler of the mamodo world. Its’ fun, it’s clean and it has great kid appeal. |
