Viro, Cou's biggest fan reveals her self to be an Edel Raid, and reacts with him as his weapon when he needs her most. Though their bond is an excellent one, Cou has trouble when she shows her true feelings for him, saying she is in love with him personally.
While Viro destroys the villains in her path with deadly accuracy, she asks Cou if they can be together after the day went so well. Cou, though is not sure, and leaves her unhappy while he knocks on Ren's door apologising for what happened. Ren did not feel any animosity toward him for reacting with Viro, but is she covering up her true feelings for him? At the dinner table, Viro is asked a serious question about who she really is, and why she is there. After she reveals her true identity, she leaves them as she thinks they are growing more suspicious of her being there and so interested in Cou. In this fifth volume of Elemental Gelade, Cou, Ren and the others are in a period of trouble and exploration - of themselves more than anything else. Cou is having to know his own drives and limits, while Ren is left as an observer watching how close Viro is getting to him without noticeably showing her envy, though the viewer will know this to be true, she is just too proud to tell him how she feels. Ren lets Cou work it all out for himself, even though it is obvious to the watcher that she has feelings for Cou that run much deeper than Cou thinks. These two despite Viro would make a decent enough couple, not just based on their ability to react with her. Viro is a peculiar and bubbly character who is full of boundless energy, and the viewers will instantly see how irritating she really is in a minor way, yet for all her energy and interest in Cou, most viewers will wonder if she is truly genuine in her pursuit of him. All 100 minutes of this volume is a wonder to view with the characters in all kinds of trouble and having to work together just to get through the time they have as a team. EXTRAS: "Promise" music video, exquisite line art gallery, depicting the characters in professional looking pencil drawings in a lovely and thought provoking way which will make the watcher sit up and take note, trailers for other anime and DVD credits. IN SUMMARY: Heart – pounding storyline, amazing graphics, devastating, thrilling - an excellent combination of characters that hit the right balance with each other.
