Abducted children, a weapon of mass destruction, and personal loss unsettle the world of Trinity Blood in the second novel. To investigate a series of murders and missing children, Abel must recruit Leon de Garcia, a dangerous member of AX. This burly and brutal man, despite his past, may turn out to be Abel’s only hope when they are left stranded on an island that is a twisted take on Peter Pan, replete with Wendy, Peter, and a group of ageless children. Horrifying secrets lie on the island, hidden behind playing youths and guileless children. When even innocence is no longer sacred, Abel and his fellow AX agent will earn hard lessons about necessary evil.
Although the various stories in the novel can be read as stand alones, each feeds into the next tale. The island incident affects how Abel reacts when he goes to investigate occurrences in Barcelona with the kind and gentle Sister Noelle. There he runs into a formidable foe, a cruel and imperious member of the Orden known as Wizard. Tragedy strikes, an entire city is ruined, and a weapon of terrible potential is in the hands of those who hate the Vatican. With Rome as the next target, Cardinal Caterina must fight foes both abroad and at home. Some are even closer than she thinks. Abel might be her only hope of saving herself let alone Rome, but the incident in Barcelona has shaken him and is affecting his resolve to fight. Suspenseful, tense, and riveting. Trinity Blood wows its readers yet again with its captivating story telling and fascinating Gothic characters. The bonus side story this volume is outstanding. Focusing on Hugue, the AX member known as Sword Dancer, the story offers insight into his past. This dramatic and spellbinding story is emotionally enthralling. It holds chilling moments. It also offers a look at other vampire factions that exist, other enemies besides Rosenkreuz Orden. It’s a definite must read for Trinity Blood fans. The novel extras include a map of the world of Trinity Blood, character introductions, and some gorgeous character art replete with dark poetry at the end.
