Suzy, a test subject undergoing observation in a laboratory, hates being kept under observation like she has been, turns rogue on the laboratory assistant who has been taking her blood samples, killing her stone dead.

In another part of Los Angeles teenager Yusuf reads in the newspaper the death toll for the SKAR virus has risen, and so far there is no known cure. Sam Feargal Chance, singer and guitarist with group The Raging Hormones finds this interesting but not as intriguing as Henry Raven, owner of Elektro Active who has been promoting the new Gamebase X-Treme. Hailed as a hero his friends want to go see him where he is promoting in their area.

While Yusuf , Sam and Donna go for a walk, Yusuf is rudely encountered by thugs he borrowed money from who are wanting it back - with interest.
When him and Sam object, a fight starts, yet the story only just gets started as Sam shows he can fight in a way no one has ever witnessed before, using powers no one knew he possessed.

Only when Sam wakes up in Hospital after the ordeal and is told the one thing he did not ever want to hear, and is Henry Raven really the great man they think he is?

Penned by David Hine, writer for the X-Men, and Hans Steinbach, manga artist who drew the popular A Midnight Opera have created between them an interesting and fresh sci-fi manga which has been well thought out, of a society gripped by the threat of the SKAR virus and its nature of spreading swiftly.

The reader will enjoy reading about young Sam, a teenager who has not the most interesting life, who now has more to deal with than he anticipated.
His friends are just as astonished at the new news as he is part way through the novel.

Hans uses his skills as a manga artist to great effect with creating the characters in this fast paced first volume. His style is raw, and brash, giving the reader the idea of a future, which is uncertain and dark and full of dangerous twists.

IN SUMMARY:
An action - filled, surprise laden hit! Readers will be eager for the second volume.
