The latest volume of this incredibly creative and phenomenally funny manga series sees Ranmaru having a special chapter all to himself when he is set stumbling after meeting a girl he truly likes. Lest things get serious, the show always reverts to off-the-wall comedy to save the day and its characters. Yuki is depressed over the trials of missing his long-distance love Machiko. Ranmaru tries to cheer him up but the ever emotional Yuki blows up in Ranmaru’s face! He’s sick of the ladies’ man attitude of Ranmaru’s and he might even be jealous. Can these two friends seal the breach before Yuki gets carried away?
Yuki gets another story in this volume that focuses on him when a fight with his friend at school makes him realize how lonely he is. It results in all sorts of Yuki histrionics and it will be Sunako, who by astonishing example, actually teaches him about the give and take relationships of any kind need. But don’t worry Sunako fans, there’s lots more of the crazed Goth girl that has instantly won readers’ hearts. A crazy plan to get her into a fancy dress leads to all kinds of strange and crazy comedy. The bishonen boys she boards with use costumes to try to sway her. No one could have anticipated the results. It will leave you in stitches! The most notable story in this set of chapters has to be hands down when Kyohei and Sunako get trapped together in the dank and dark basement of the mansion. Sunako is torn between her desire for survival and chocolate, and her long held wish to see a corpse. She only has to outlive Kyohei in order to achieve her dream! This kind of morbid madcap antic is what makes this series such a unique, fun, and stand out comedy. Manga extras include translation notes, bonus manga, a preview of the next volume in its original Japanese language, and a funny bonus extra from the self-proclaimed “crazed cat owner” mangaka. IN SUMMARY: Wallflower is one of the funniest romantic comedies ever. It has stunning off the wall dark comedy that sets it apart from any other manga. |
