Ramses takes Yuri and Rusafa to his home. There she wastes away, a pale shadow of the fiery woman that led her beloved Kail’s people into battle.  But there, Ramses learns of news that he shares with her in hopes of rousing her flame for life. And it does. Upon hearing there is a spy close to Kail and that the Hittite King, her beloved, is ill, she again regains her strength and will to live. However, the path back is perilous and Queen Nefertiti has a part in this. But what is Ramses’ aim by sharing all this information with his enemies? Hear his shocking declaration of love and pride in the latest volume of Red River.

Excellent turns and intrigue occur in this well wrought fantasy manga series. There is even some mature and unexpected humor at times with Ramses’ attempts to court Yuri and his sisters’ reaction and playfulness as they tease Yuri.  The small group must travel to see Nefertiti and they find themselves between two conniving dowager queens, the Egyptian and Nakia. To reach Kail, Yuri must meet with Nefertiti. Ramses comes up with a clever ruse to marry Yuri in order to help her. But is that his true goal? Will she go through with it in order to get near Queen Nefertiti? The plan to roust out the spy and Yuri’s attempts to be reunited with the man she loves may lead her deeper into the arms of another.

The latest developments show how truly noble Ramses is. True he is cunning, but his declaration to Kail and Yuri prove that above all else, he is a man of honor, of pride, and who truly desires and cares for Yuri. There are some points on which he offers Yuri more honor and respect in what he wishes to share with her than Kail has. In the end, can Ramses sway Yuri’s heart?

IN SUMMARY:
Big developments happen in the latest enthralling volume of Red River. The plot with the Egyptians thickens and Yuri may be lured into the arms of Ramses.
