Fun, fun, fun, and then some. That’s what’s in store for readers of Little Darling. A demon named Kaie with succubus in his bloodline is also a hermaphrodite. When he comes of age (300 years) he can become male or female and he wants to become an ideal man. But everything gets thrown to heck by this one handsome angel from Heaven who immediately snares Kaie into a betrothal and his heart! Daina is the heir to the Celestial realm while Kaie is from Hades. But that won’t stop the handsome Daina from getting what he wants, and he wants Kaie’s love and passion …for all eternity!
This manga is great fun and a jolly good yaoi read. It is rich with how it reinvents the worlds of Heaven and Hell (Hades and Celestial) and what angels and demons are like. Both sides have various capabilities and otherworldly powers, some naughty, others nice, some a lot naughty…you can feel where this is going. The author has a lot of fun and readers will be able to feel that in the story. These two will have quite the time coming together and struggling to remain that way. Kaie is ill-tempered and not the most savvy of demons. He’s easily duped and Daina takes full advantage in every way in order to steal the demon’s innocent heart for his very own. The story takes you through their tumultuous and very funny first meeting, betrothal and road to marriage. There are all kinds of people getting in the way, including odd-ball angel assassins, meddling family members, and even an angelic cousin that has nothing noble about his true intentions! The hermaphrodite aspect is an interesting touch but one that the author doesn’t go too far in exploiting sexually, rather it is a dimension that is an aspect to add fuel to the fire when Kaie has a crisis due to his succubus nature and demonic coming of age. There are some mild dramas but truly this is a pure romantic comedy through and through, with an entertaining supernatural twist. The novel holds a small smattering of illustrations by lively illustrations from the artist of Our Kingdom, including a full color cover page. IN SUMMARY:
Little Darling is a great romantic comedy for yaoi fans, offering big laughs and passionate adventure.
