If you’re looking for an anime that’s ultra-cool, super slick and packed with jaw-dropping action and sexy gun-toting women here it is! Devil May Cry may be based on the popular series of video games from CAPCOM that have graced Playstations and XBOX 360 consoles everywhere, but the anime gives it a whole new fresh, bloody and uber-cool action horror adventure.
Dante’s half-demon, half-human and the most kicked-back, irreverent guy you’re likely to meet – for a demon hunter. He drinks, he loves his strawberry sundaes, but when it comes to demons - watch out! He goes all out to do them in any way he can. Whether by gun, grenades or one huge freakin’ sword, he’ll cut them down to size. For a price. He’s not looking for a hero’s accolades, nuh-uh, Dante is all about cold hard cash. He’s neck deep in debt and sinking fast. Does he care? Not really. Not as long as he has enough for liquor, sundaes and pizza. And not as long as he can keep killing those nasty demons that constantly cause trouble. And there’s a lot of trouble knocking on Dante’s door. First there’s an heiress named Patty that he’s hired to protect. What they didn’t tell him was that a horde of ugly demons want her too. Then he gets roped into a highway killing, demon style, by the beautiful and oh-so-deadly Lady. She’s long legs, has a tough attitude and carries a big gun. And she knows how to work Dante over just right to get what she wants, and she wants to kill some demon ass. Just when you thought the anime couldn’t get any better between the blood spilling and the drooling, Lady crosses paths with a cool blond all in black. This woman gets under Lady’s skin and it’s an all out duel between two sexy femme fatales. It doesn’t get any better than this! Guess which anime is hitting my top ten for the New Year right out of the gate? Yep, this one. It’s got hard rock style, deadly ladies, and hard core action. What every boy dreams of. You’ve got Dante who wins with his devil-may-care attitude and smooth moves, so far two sexy and lethal ladies, and more action with thick blood spills and slick moves than you can shake a six foot sword at. Faster than Dante can shoot his guns you’ll be addicted to this anime and jonesin’ for more. The episodes play out like one-shot stories but there’re a lot of questions that you’ll have by the end of the first volume. It definitely gives off a “wait and see what we do next” vibe. The animation is done by Madhouse Studios who are more famous for their movies than TV series. You’ll have heard of many of the ones they’ve done like the legendary Ninja Scroll, the incomparable Vampire Hunter D Blooodlust, and here they are doing this TV show. Devil May Cry has animation that you expect to see in theaters, not in the comfort of your living room. Great action, fantastic character designs, and a killer soundtrack that kept making me want to listen to some Trans Siberian Orchestra. Extra goodies are here in droves. They’ve got previews and spots for the upcoming Devil May Cry 4 game, there’s clean opening and closing animation to be expected, ADV previews, and an interview with the Japanese voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa who plays Dante. The big lowdown on this is that the anime DVD release coincides with the release of Devil May Cry 4 game. To commemorate it, you can get the game in a special collector’s edition that has both the game and the anime DVD plus extra bonus features exclusive to the collector’s edition and it all comes in a steel case. IN SUMMARY:
It’s dark, it’s bloody and it’s supremely cool! You can’t afford to miss out on Devil May Cry the animated series. It has deadly babes, evil demons, and gun play galore all in slick animation that will leave you drooling for more.
