Betrayed by one he trusted, Syaoran finds himself separated from Sakura and her feather rests in the hands of a man with a dark purpose. The world is reshaped yet again, but with Sakura taken, Syaoran must face the one he once called friend. The death of a comrade will leave no room for forgiveness and Syaoran will draw his blade at last in defence of the one he loves in the conclusion of the first season of Tsubasa – Reservoir Chronicles.
Seishiro’s true purpose is revealed and its consequences will force reality and dreams to violently collide. With nightmares merging with reality, everyone must band together to defend the world and themselves. But for Syaoran, it is much simpler, and harder, than that. He must fight and regain the feather to help restore the soul of the princess he loves, despite the sacrifice to himself. The conclusion of the first season of this remarkable fantasy answers some questions, offers momentous moments action filled and emotional, yet raises even more questions that will remain unanswered – for now. With a second season, don’t expect to discover too much in this first season finale. Many big secrets are still kept and few resolutions are found. Expect some hard choices though and an emotional moment involving a wish, a choice, and a sacrifice. The show stays enigmatic and is lush with the immersing animation and varied soundtrack. It transitions from smooth jazz to sorrowful cellos and suspenseful chanting scores that sound almost like Celtic music, or even Eastern European. The score throughout this series has been as vast as the landscapes and diverse characters the anime has displayed. EXTRAS: Bonus features include a reversible cover, FUNimation trailers, textless opening and ending animation, and all new Character Guide, World Guide and Faces in the Crowd which gives viewers background on some of the cameos from the CLAMP universe that appear in this volume. The final volume of season 1 also has audio commentary on the last episode with Colleen Clinkenbeard (ADR Director) and English voice actor Monica Rial (Sakura). IN SUMMARY: The final volume of season 1 ends with a death, a wish, and a sacrifice. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles is a kaleidoscope of the imagination.
