SYNOPSIS: Demons from the past greet demons from the present, as Yusuke, Hiei, and Kurama take their places at the sides of the three kings of the Demon World. Yomi has forced Kurama to serve as his advisor. Mukuro throws Hiei into conflict with the demon that implanted the imp’s Jagan Eye! With Raizen’s time drawing to an end, Yusuke must act fast to keep the tenuous peace in Demon World. As Mukuro and Yomi prepare their next move, Yusuke arrives at a brilliant decision that might preserve the calm.
Yomi and Mukuro, preventing a full-scale Demon War, have embraced Yusuke’s unlikely proposal of a tournament to decide who will be the ultimate king. As the main bouts of the Demon world tournament get underway, some of the best and the most familiar fighters are removed rather quickly. While it looks like some of the fighters’ motivations for entering aren’t exactly what they seemed, they all have their eyes on one warrior as the prize…Yusuke. Urameshi finds himself staring down Yomi. Who emerges victorious? When the dust settles, surprise follows surprise as one by one each member of the old gang shows up…But where is Yusuke? A saga for the ages ends with a kiss…In the thrilling conclusion to Yu Yu Hakusho!
Contains episodes 99-112 on two discs. REVIEW: This is it – the big finale to one of the most popular fighting anime series ever! This contains the big chunk and conclusion to the “Three Kings Saga” which is the final season of the anime, roughly up to volume 19 of the manga. With three of the spirit detectives in the underworld, each under the different three kings, wouldn’t you know it that the big war is decided by a huge Demon World tournament! So like Hakusho. This anime is all about the personal fights that make the boys into men, and in this collection – demons into kings! The above synopsis gives a lot as far as the main plot goes, but it doesn’t tell you all the ultra-cool nitty gritty details that lie in wait for Hakusho fans! The biggest highlights in this last collection are the huge reveals behind Hiei and Kurama’s pasts. First Hiei has to face the man who gave him the Jagan Eye and in doing so, recalls his whole life head on. That’s right, you get all the low down on the big moments of Hiei’s life, how and why he got the eye, and way, way more! It ends up with him having a very freaky bond thing going on with the incredibly freaky Mukuro. Their bonds are potent stuff! With Kurama, his return to the side of an old partner leads to all kinds of court backstabbing (that ends up being kind of literal) and a huge reveal as to why Yomi called him to his side. Man, these people sure know how to hold grudges. I mean, staying that ticked off for over ten centuries is one heck of a mad-on. With the big Demon Tournament to decide the big bad Demon King, you see a lot of returns of Dark Tournament fighters. But whoa, do things ever turn out differently for many of them! They aren’t going up against the same bunch and this time it’s the best of the very best for the crown of the Demon World. Things get tense, downright nasty. One of the big battles is the duel between Shigure, the man who planted that Jagan Eye on Hiei, and Kurama. Fox boy is all conflicted over his human persona and his demon one. With his life on the line, and what he holds most dear, this is where he makes a big decision that will affect the rest of his existence – if he has much time left! The other stand-out battle is between Hiei and Mukuro. Both this and Kurama’s fight have intense feelings at their core. The mega-final battle between Yusuke and his opponent has more than one surprise in it. In the end, the show comes to an all time decent closure. Sure there are some things that you might want to know more about, but there’s always the manga for that. The anime concludes things with a fun sense of comedy and giving the main cast each a fair ending for fans to enjoy. EXTRAS: Extra goodies include clean opening and closing animation, FUNimation trailers, and short little character profiles. IN SUMMARY: Yu Yu Hakusho, the final episodes! It’s a can’t miss! The huge tournament to become the Demon King, the secret pasts of Kurama and Hiei revealed, and a long-awaited return followed by a kiss! Don’t miss it! Kick-ass, intense, and wacky fun!
