It’s summer mayhem and back to school insanity in the latest School Rumble. And there might even be a rumble in this volume!
Mikoto’s still stinging from Eri’s words last volume. Will she recover? Harima and Hanai end up in a fight – could this constitute a rumble? And Eri and Mikoto’s fight gets worse when we discover Mikoto’s secret crush and Eri takes it the wrong way. This feud could go on forever but fireworks bring everyone together. And hey, who doesn’t like a good fireworks show? In this volume, Harima has even more trouble with those sisters. He keeps trying to confess to Tenma and when he interprets what she says after misunderstanding him, he’s off and gets consolation from her sister Yakumo. When will this guy ever buy a clue? A camping trip and scavenger hunt only makes it worse for the hormonally raging and intellectually challenged thug when he ends up in a shack with Tenma and they’re only wearing togas! Confused? Don’t be, this is School Rumble. It’s not supposed to make sense. It’s insane comedy that’s fast paced and keeps the hits comin’! You think all that stuff is weird? You’ll go mad trying to figure out just what that mature babe Itoko is doing harboring a bunch of animals during summer break at the school. Remember when Harima went all Noah’s Arc? This is the result. Now the gang of the insane are there trying to help transfer the herd to the shrine thinking nobody will notice…ri-iiight. Next thing you know it’s bedlam with news reporters and guys with guns surrounding the temple and the school chums fighting to save the animals inside! Could there be a rumble happening here? The suspense! The last episode on this disc has Imadori taking clueless Karen out on that date. He’s a lazy loser and she’s not that bright, but she’s super strong. This quiet little mouse of a girl has never been on a date so she can’t appreciate what a louse Imadori really is. How clueless is Karen? She asks (of all people!) the super-ditzy Tenma for dating advice! You know it’s going to be an episode to remember! Speaking of episodes, here’s the down-low on a special short on the disc. Wait through the credits on episode 17 and you’ll get an animated short done all in CG about what Akira’s summer was all about. It’s great spy action and it happens before the previews for the next episode, so watch for it! This volume also has a special “Power Rangers’ spoof ending animation for episode 18. Enjoy the madness! EXTRAS: Bonus goodies include a reversible cover, FUNimation trailers, textless opening and ending animation, video interviews with Japanese voice actresses Yuuka Nanri (Karen) and Yuu Asakawa (Itoko), and a new sheet of characters magnets that has the girls in cute Santa suits! IN SUMMARY: Summer break rumble! New term begins rumble! The laughs will rumble away when you watch this anime!
