SYNOPSIS:
Watch out bad guys!

When the mighty Big Momma dispatches her sorcerer hunters, mayhem and destruction are sure to follow! While over-sexed and under-witted leader Carrot may have trouble keeping his drooling inner beast locked within, when he’s driven by duelling dominatrix sisters Chocolate and Tira Misu, and amply supported by muscle-bound exhibitionist Gateau Mocha and bishonen Marron, there’s no one better at saving the peasants of the Spooner continent from the dreaded scourge of sorcery. Who’ll save the peasants from their rescuers, on the other hand, isn’t quite so clear!

The entire 26 episode TV series on 3 OVA episodes on 7 discs in cool black art box in this complete thinpack collection.

REVIEW:
More fan service than you can shake a whip at! More comedy than you can laugh at without the use of depends! It’s all here in the complete entire series of Sorcerer Hunters. Fantasy adventure will never be the same again!

Based on the racy manga Bakuretsu Hanta written by Satoru Akahori and illustrated by artist Ray Mohishi, this show provides laughs and fan service like mad! It’s raining beautiful anime girls and bad guys who need to bet bashed. And luckily for all those hapless peasants in peril, the Sorcerer Hunters are on the job to help. That is, if they don’t wreck everything in the tornado of chaos they bring with them! Hero (and I use that term sort of light-like here) Carrot is the king of hound dogs. He shamelessly chases after every cute girl there is. It earns him the S&M attentions of dominatrix Chocolate and Tira. Sure they seem nice and hung up on the guy, but when the going gets tough, these two babes turn into leather dominatrix to drool over. And did I mention Carrot turns into a beast?

It seems when attacked by magic, the dude goes all monster on them. Then it takes whip whipping and garrote slicing Tira and Chocolate to tame him back to human. This motley crew along with not-so-subtle yaoi pairing of muscle man Gateau and pretty boy Marron, travel from place to place to take care of bad magic users everywhere. The shows are fun, heck they’re awesomely funny. My favorite episode is probably the one where the guys all have to dress up in drag. Carrot with makeup trying to pass as a girl=scary! But the anime turns serious towards the end when they go up against the big bad behind all those evil magic users: “Big Daddy”. That gets violent, dramatic and kind of funky with some reincarnation stuff and alternate worlds thrown in. But it makes for a heck of a climax to the show. Think of Sorcerer Hunters as Slayers on naughty.

The last disc holds all 3 of the OVA series. It gets closer to the style of the manga and gives a chance for some of the characters from the manga to appear here since they didn’t show up in the TV series. First, there’s a hot spring trip for the gang and at night it’s mayhem when everyone tries to sneak into everyone else’s bed for some nookie. As much as there was fan service in the TV series, it doesn’t even compare to the stuff going on in this episode! Whoa momma! This episode is the holy anime of fan service! The second ep sees a little action of the non-naughty kind when the gang has to stop a guy from raising the dead. They end up helping a cute zombie girl and we all learn that zombies need some luvin’ too. The final episode is kind of slow compared to the other two. It’s romantic, with Tira and Chocolate reliving sentimental memories about their childhood with Carrot. The end is precious laughs though. So hang in there! The OVA series is most definitely for mature audiences only.

XEBEC did the animation production and its great stuff. Although the transfer isn’t as sharp as I’d like, the animation is fun. It’s dynamic, especially during the transformation sequences for the girls. XEBEC did anime series like Love Hina, Nadesico the Movie and DN Angel so you know they’re good and give out great colors and vivid action. Plus the anime TV series has two of most groovin’ techno pop songs ever in anime.

EXTRAS:
ADV again changes tune and provides fans with extra goodies galore in their latest thinpacks. But ignore what the cases have listed as extras on the back of each case. They’re usually wrong. These is what goodies are found within: clean opening and ending animation, ADV previews, Sorcerer Hunter trailers, character bios, and a nice variety of commentaries. First up, Matt Greenfield (ADR Director and ADR writer) hooks up with Jason Douglas ( Marron) and English voice legend Tiffany Grant who did Asaka in Evangelion and totally owns Chocolate in this series, they share hilarious moments while watching episode 1. Then there are two interview commentaries. The first is with Matt Greenfield who’s interviewed by Allen Divers during episode 10. After, Allen Divers conducts another interview during episode 16 with Steven Foster who took over the ADR Directing for the series and it marks one of his first anime directing jobs. Last and one of the funniest, is audio commentary with Kelly Manison (big Momma) and Kira Vincent Davis (Dotta). Plus the series comes in a hard stock black art box with images of leather and barely clad Tira and Chocolate everywhere! Booya baby!

IN SUMMARY:
The only thing crazier than their names are the characters themselves in Sorcerer Hunters! It’s mega fan service and awesome comedy for fans who enjoy over-the-top sex laden jokes, hot girls, and fantasy adventure that has whips!
