At an all boys’ dormitory Hiyori has spent the better part of the school year with the track athlete Kasumi as his kind and considerate roommate. The problem is that Hiyori has fallen for him and hard. To make it worse is that Hiyori is quite timid and nervous. Whenever he’s around Kasumi, he gets sweaty and flushed and even nauseous over his own rising passions. He tries to keep it under control, but when Kasumi walks in on Hiyori trying to relieve that inner-tension, just what will the other boy do?
A new story from the mangaka who did Lost Boys, After I Win is about an exceedingly innocent first love between two boys who live together at the school dorm. They are both so shy and awkward in how they deal with their desires that it is both sweet and sympathetic. There are some misunderstandings as the boys deal with their first forays into romantic love and sex. Things are complicated by Hiyori’s meddlesome and exotic older brother. But in the end, the story has a feel good quality with its earnest characters and kind heart. There are two bonus stories at the end. The first deals with Hiroyi’s older brother and his own romantic entanglement. It is comedic and shows off the brother’s playboy flamboyance. The second story is a brief one also with Hiyori’s brother as he grills Kasumi, playing the protective older brother role with a twisted sense of fun and evil flair. The art style is softer than a lot of other yaoi artists. It’s quite clean, simple lines, lean figures, and appealing art. Curiously, even though Hiyori is the ‘sempai’, the older student, he is shorter and much more feminine than his younger roommate. Meanwhile his brother stands out for his exotic good looks that give an elegant beauty to the devious man. IN SUMMARY:
After I Win! is a sweet romantic story about first love between two innocent and earnest male roommates at school.
