Planet Graceland is going to be obliterated into nothing but space dust in seven days, along with Pirate King Blues’ legacy to his daughter, Franca. That leaves just enough time for Mister (yes, that’s his name) to bust out of jail, take the helm of the Coyote-go (standard intergalactic space craft - you know the drill) and try to do something about it (ie: grab the loot before it’s reduced to dust particles and such).

As master criminal, Madame Marciano plots to take over the crime guild and swipe the treasure for herself. The 12 sisters, Madame’s machine gun toting nutcases, set a trap to deliver Mister and the girl into her hands. Can Mister save Franca and her fortune? Will Swamp Gordon, one of the king’s most trusted friends, be willing to help out? In volume two, Mister and crew of the Coyote go visit an old friend of the pirate king, they end up staring down the barrel of a gun. Grudges run deep, but so does their love for Franca. With just two days until Planet Graceland is destroyed, can an agreement be reached in time? Meanwhile, Madame Marciano’s memories are coming back to haunt her. It’s time for her to keep old promises, but she might have to step into a trap to do it. Gun toting action and an abnormal amount of explosions await!

Right off the bat, Coyote Ragtime Show is a manga with high production values. It’s clean and crisp and knows how to look pretty. This level of quality does not change in volume two - the artists will likely only improve as the series continues, so there are good things to look forward to for sure. The action continues to play out really well, and the flow of the text and story is flawless. The whole product contains a really well put together, well thought out sense of design that can be appreciated by anyone who has read any number of manga that just don’t live up to the same standards. It’s great!

As for extras, volume two pours it on and we readers get a very detailed education about all of the things Coyote Ragtime Show has to offer. There is a nice little section at the back that goes over some of the character designs - many more than in the last volume - lots of new stuff. There’s also a section of foot notes and translation notes that are much appreciated - you can never go wrong with notes that give the reader a better understanding of what they are in fact reading. And there’s even an English preview of the next volume (actually pretty rare when it comes to previews, which are usually in Japanese only), as well as a preview for the new series, “My Dearest Devil Princess,” which actually looks like a lot of fun. Broccoli makes some great books, and Coyote Ragtime Show certainly makes that list twice over.

IN SUMMARY:
Coyote Ragtime Show is an exciting blend of action, suspense, and some pretty insane characters all getting together for a number of wild shoot outs. It’s a race against time that will have you on the edge of your seat as much as it will have you laughing!
