When Akira was a little boy, his mom remarried and he gained an older brother. Never was there a brother complex as troublesome as this! Years later, now nearly a young man, Akira is afflicted with his love for his older and striking looking step-brother Satoru. This doesn’t go unnoticed by an eccentric photographer who spies Akira one day. And that’s how this bizarre and spicy love triangle begins in Camera.

What can be seen by the sharp eye of a photographer causes no end of trouble for Akira. The handsome photographer Nakahara has taken a shine to him and Akira is told about love at first site. The guy must be kidding right? No way! He means it and begins to pursue Akira in a most comedic fashion. The confused and hormone racing Akira is worked up into a fine mess over it. That’s hardly his only obstacle to his happiness with Satoru though. It seems a beautiful young woman named Miyata has taken a liking to Satoru and intends to win him heart and all! Now Akira has a rival, but it’s for his brother! Akira does see the problem with this scenario. He knows it’s wrong to be in love with his stepbrother. He wails about his fate…and oh look, there’s that laid back and eccentric charmer Nakahara with his good looks and sympathetic shoulder waiting in the wings! Nakahara has a calm, cheerful demeanor and keen insight, it makes for hilarious sparks between him and the ill-tempered and riled up Akira. When Miyata makes a declaration to Akira, she isn’t fooled by him one bit and she knows he has a thing for his stepbrother. She vows to win Satoru and it’s driving Akira insane.  But Nakahara has his own ways to keep Akira distracted.

The photographer rigs things for Akira to be his on-campus assistant. It lends to all kinds of opportunities for Nakahara to pursue the younger man and it’s getting Akira hot under the collar. It’s driving him crazy the way Miyata and Nakahara declare their feelings straight from the heart. It has Akira seeing red…and green. He envies them their ability to say how they feel when he himself has held in those feelings for ten years. And when Nakahara takes a fevered Akira’s words ill, it’s Akira who goes chasing after him, to apologize…or is there something more he wants to say?

Camera is a fun manga with a lot of tantalizing scenes and building chemistry between characters with a romping dose of comedy. The first volume ends on a big upheaval with a dramatic exchange and realization by Akira followed by some upsetting news about his brother. It’s a strong lead up to the next volume and the combination of sexy characters, great chemistry, and robust humor makes Camera a fun read.

This manga has a wonderful art style, full of energy. It has especially striking looking characters. Male or female, they are very appealing and highly attractive. This manga isn’t the wispy kind, but a more sure illustrative style. It has a confident feel to it. It makes it very enjoyable visually.
