Any anime fan will remember the name synonymous with mecha action and strong dramatic science fiction that helped stamp mecha anime on the map across the world: Macross. It’s been 25 years since the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross aired. Now an all new series called Macross F is about to hit the airwaves.
Like the other Macross series, this all new anime features drama, a romance, and unforgettable sci-fi action. In the future, the Macross Frontier has been traveling the galaxy with over 10 million people in the convoy. They are on a search for a new world in the desperate hope of ensuring the continuation of the human race.
When the top rated idol singer Sheryl Nome comes to the convoy, big fan Ranka Lee is overcome with excitement. It’s during her happy travel to see Sheryl in concert that Lanca meets Aruto Saotome, a pilot in training. After that moment, none of their lives will be the same. An enemy of overwhelming power attacks the peaceful convoy. Suddenly thrown into a hostile situation, this last group of humanity must make a choice: to fight or to die as a race. The last vestiges of humanity on a search for a new home planet, attack from an unknown enemy, and a people having to make hard choices and pay high prices…this has the makings of sci-fi epics that make the map in space opera. Faster than you can say Battlestar Galactica, this new Macross F will be hitting the airwaves and has many of the hallmarks that makes the Macross series so infatuating and unforgettable. Staff on Macross F include Junya Ishigaki (Mechanical Design), Shoji Kawamori (Story Organization, Valkyrie Design), and the legendary musical composer Yoko Kanno who’s scores and songs on such series as Macross Plus, Escaflowne, and Ghost in the Shell SAC have made for some of the best loved and incredible music experiences in anime today. This new anime series is so highly anticipated that a special broadcast will air in Japan on TV celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macross.
