On November 13, winners of the inaugural Asia Pacific Screen Awards (ASPA) were announced, and Makoto Shinkai's latest anime feature film, 5 Centimeters Per Second, won the Best Animated Feature Film category. Producer Noritaka Kawaguchi accepted the award in behalf of Makoto Shinkai.

ASPA is sponsored by CNN International and the program "Scene by Scene: The Best Films of Asia Pacific", will introduce 5 Centimeters Per Second as part of the show. The show will air on CNN International on November 17 and 18th worldwide.
