Revelations comes about upon their arrival at Nanso, as past events surrounding Sona and Jin are revealed, and his attempt at revenge for his father's death. But their arrival at Nanso isn't a deliberate one as Jin is searching for some information that he ran into with a musical piano piece that he and Sona played. Unwavering in their attempt to retrieve Sona, Phantom mounts another mission, but only to fail when Shiba comes to the aid of Jin and Joe and when one of the Phantom Gladiators goes berserk.

After the attack, the Ishin makes its way to the country of Satsuma, where Buichi Nakahira, the chief of Satsuma, would provide safe harbor for Jin, Joe, and Sona. However, Nakahira was rejected by Shiba when asked to join the rebellion. Nevertheless, their arrival compromises Satsuma's position in the rebellion, as they are unknowingly followed by Phantom, and they fall right into Drake's plan when his Phantom team causes a conflict between the National Defense Force and Satsuma, and finally abducts Sona right in the middle of the battle.

As the Ishin set sail out of Satsuma, Joe and Jin make their move to rescue Sona, but not before Shiba tells Joe to take care of Sona. Their rescue turns into a trap as both are apprehended, and worse, Jin shows his true intentions and a shocking disclosure of the past in front of Joe and Sona.

Intrigue, mysteries, and cliffhangers are what this show is all about. It is a series that will always have you on the edge of your seat. With the shocking ending of the last episode in this volume, it is anyone's guess as to whether what they just saw will hold true in the next volume. The volume also explains why Sona is such a high commodity and why Drake would go to any length to use his Phantom soldiers just to apprehend Sona no matter what the cost.

Another thing to note are the piano duet scenes with Jin and Sona, as the characters were actually stroking the correct keys on the piano. The series already comes with superb animation, and to add something like this, just makes it more worthwhile.

EXTRAS:
The usual ADV Extras – Clean Opening and Closing Animation, ADV Preivews, and DVD Credits.

IN SUMMARY:
A trust betrayed and a secret revealed in this second volume of Innocent Venus. Intrigue, mysteries, and cliffhangers at their best, and the best to come out of this year – period.
