While Nina still is in possession of the pearl (she had accidentally swallowed it) the magic users need to pass the final exam, magicians keep showing up at her school and causing problems. Having the magic team of Zero and Ichi by her side to protect her has been helping, but with competitors holding ardent wishes towards either of the handsome boys, Nina is as much a target as ever. Whether it’s for the pearl or because others think she’s in the way of them getting the boys of their dreams, Nina better watch out!
This romantic comedy adventure sees love in the air and explosions on the ground when other magic users have set their hearts on Ichi or Zero and try to get Nina out of the way. First Rokka makes a love potion to slip to Ichi and win his heart, but a mistake by Nina has everyone having taken the potion and chasing after her! When she hears the words “I love you” from the boys close to her, just what will she think? Hearts are thumping and that’s just the start of this volume. Continuing strongly with the romantic angle of this comedic manga, next we see the arrival of two more magic users. The team of Kuku and Toto arrive and with them comes a surprise: Kuku is Zero’s fiancée! She definitely does not like the protective way Zero is around Nina. It’s all out magic mayhem when a wrathful Kuku decides to turn her seemingly cheating fiancé into a dog and Nina along with him! Soon a spell is cast on the whole school and the only way to break it might be a kiss. The mix of love and magic hardly stops there. When Nina meets magic users Eleven and Twelve, they cast a spell on her to find her true soulmate. But when the spell seems to react to both Ichi and Zero, what is Nina to think? Is she fated to be with both of them? But how could that be? The mischief the other magic users bring makes for a fun and entertaining adventure, but the growing intrigue in Nina’s romantic triangle is ultimately what drives this story. With so much focus in this volume on the triangle, if anything, the latest series of adventures and events only make it all the more muddled for Nina. She thought she knew her heart to some extent, but by the end of this volume, any clarity she had may have just done a disappearing act on her! Manga extras include some fun fan art, a preview of the next volume in the original Japanese, and two bonus stories. The larger of the stories reveals Sun’s childhood and how she and Forte first met and became friends. It’s a touching bittersweet story and will definitely have readers rooting for the two of them. IN SUMMARY: Love takes no prisoners in the latest magical misadventures in the comedic Mamotte Lollipop. A delightful comedic manga about magic misadventures and romance in the air. |
