Articles
Monday, 20 February 2006
Active Anime is proud to present our interview with Anime Extraordinaire Jan Scott - Frazier about her latest and goodwill project VOICES FOR PEACE.

• Jan, before we could get started, could you please tell us about yourself, and tell our readers about your particular ties to the anime industry?

• Tell us about your project, Voices for Peace.

• Have you always wanted to do a CD like Voices for Peace and what finally made you decide to do this?

• Could you tell us a little about the voice actors participating in this project?

• What types of music can we expect to hear in Voices of Peace?

• Do you already have a favorite track on the CD?

• I heard that this is being recorded in a hotel bathroom. Is this true and why?

• Could you offer us a little bit about the art work that is going to be appearing with Voices for Peace?

• All of the proceeds will go the families affected by the war, is that correct?

• With so many worthy causes out there, what specifically made you pick this one?

• Are you doing this to protest the war, or you just wanted to assist the families that are affected by it?

• What made you decide to go with a tribute CD as opposed to using a portion of the profits from a manga or a DVD?

• Until recently, the anime industry has been kind of a separate entity; anime is not considered the "norm", so the industry seemed to carve out its own niche and stay to itself. The release of Voices for Peace seems to be a push in the opposite direction; do you foresee the industry shifting to a more open mentality in the near future?

• The phrase, “social consciousness” isn’t necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about the genre of Japanese animation, do you think its important for the industry and the fans to bridge that gap or do you feel that anime is better left in the realm of entertainment?

• Can you name your 3 favorite anime soundtracks for us?

• Do you have plans to do more projects in this vein?

• When can we expect the release of the CD?

• Final comment, anything you would like to comment on or say to fans.

Active Anime would also like to thank Tiffany Grant and Christopher Ayres for participating in the interview.
