After the destruction of Relic's Point and with no Guyver units to stand in their way, Chronos finally makes their move to take over the world. They become the first ever all-encompassing military organization in world that gives false hope to humanity by providing leadership and advanced technology while co-existing with Zoanoids.
Miraculously surviving the explosion of the Relic, Tetsuro, Mizuki, Shizu, and Yohei are living back in Japan, laying low from the eyes of Chronos, but under constant surveillance from Aptom, who hopes like Tetsuro that Guyver Unit 1 will return. And as the Chronos continues their Optimization Projects all across the world, a small band of resistance is led by Agito, who also survived the explosion. Agito continues to defy the ever increasing power of Chronos and is in search of a chrysalis that Chronos managed to obtain from North America.
Chronos, unable to determine what's inside the chrysalis, is totally unaware that Sho is inside and going through a metamorphism with the hopes that when he emerges, he will have enough firepower to defeat Archanfel.
The final volume of Guyver The Bioboosted Armor ends with a battle between Sho with his new armor against an upgraded XT-Tole, but with an ending that viewers will have to make their own interpretation of what occurred. With a conclusion where the background animation changes through time behind Sho and Mizuki, I was led to believe that Sho's cause and determination has won his battle against Chronos without any further development from the questions and factors that were introduced in the volume. However, one can hope that there is a second 26-episode season for the series to further answer the questions that were introduced in the final volume and left unanswered. Could it be that the strength of the series following the story of the manga so closely results in too much of the story to come out short? Nevertheless, Guyver The Bioboosted Armor is a thrilling ride from start to finish.
EXTRAS: The finale of the Manga/Anime Comparison, and a very entertaining Episode 26 commentary with Christopher Patton (Sho) , Lowell Bartholomee (Tetsuro), and ADR Director Charles Campbell, as they tackle the topic of the glowing nipples, favorite characters and more! IN SUMMARY: A promising climax with a jaded ending leaves the show's integrity to the hands of the fans who followed it. However, the series stays true to its course and story, and that makes Guyver The Bioboosted Armor the best Guyver incarnation of recent years. |
